The Whole Dog Approach To Dog Training
Our Whole Dog Approach to dog training is a combination of
obedience training,
behavior modification,
and correct socialization
It uses modern choice based training methods that are founded on instinctive canine understanding to seek favoritism or aim to please.
Sixteen years ago, we launched our Whole Dog Approach to dog training with the goal of
creating well-trained dogs that even first-time dog owners could manage.
Dog training is more than learning to "Sit" after hearing the verbal command!
If you want your dog or puppy to simply learn a command,
that is dependent on you standing in front of it,
then standard obedience training could be the right path.
But saying "sit" is not going to help much if your dog or puppy struggles with leash pulling, excessive barking, biting/nipping, chews inappropriate objects, isn't potty trained, reacts out of anxiety/fear, ignores impulse control, or is hyper stimulated.
These things are fixed through behavior modification.
When your dog ignores you saying "sit" over and over and his behavior worsens
because of over stimulation around new people, proper socialization will help.
The Whole Dog Areas Of Focus
1. Obedience2. Behavior Modification3. Socialization
Obedience Training tells the dog what to do through a verbal command. Traditional commands like "come", "sit", "stay", or “down” simply tell the dog what to do but relies on the direction of verbal commands.
Behavior training focuses on modifying undesired behaviors and replacing them with a preferred behavior. We call this the "behind the scenes" training that typical obedience classes do not cover. Behavior Training teaches the dog to choose the correct behavior. training that includes behavior modification last longer and is far superior to just obedience training.
Proper Socialization conditions a dog’s training to new situations and environments and allows them to cope with experiences in a positive and confident manner. Proper socialization is valuable for dogs of all ages, not just puppies and especially beneficial for dogs that become easily agitated or over stimulated.
If you’re like the majority of struggling owners, you need help in all three areas.
Our Whole Dog approach is just what you’ve been looking for!
